We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 AND UNTO DAVID We granted Solomon [as a son - and] how excellent a servant [of Ours he grew up to be]! Behold, he would always turn unto Us 30 [and even] when, towards the close of day, nobly-bred, swift-footed steeds were brought before him, 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 [He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks. 33 Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us). 34 he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Forgive me my sins, and bestow upon me the gift of a kingdom which may not suit anyone after me: verily, Thou alone art a giver of gifts!" 35 So We made the wind subservient unto him, setting fair by his command whithersoever he intended. 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 and others chained in fetters. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
