And We have not created the heaven and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah]. 30 [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses. 31 Therefore Sulaiman said, “I cherish the love of these horses*, out of remembrance of my Lord”; he then ordered them to be raced until they vanished in a curtain out of sight. (To be used in holy war.) 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. 34 He said, 'My Lord, forgive me, and give me a kingdom such as may not befall anyone after me; surely Thou art the All-giver.' 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 And the shaitans, every builder and diver, 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 'This is Our gift, give or withhold without reckoning' 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
