Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, "Satan has afflicted me with distress and suffering." 41 [and thereupon was told:] "Strike [the ground] with thy foot: here is cool water to wash with and to drink!" 42 We restored to him his family and like those with them, a mercy from Us and a reminder to a nation that understand. 43 We told him, "Take a handful of straw. Strike your wife with it to fulfill your oath." We found him to be patient. What an excellent servant he was. He was certainly most repenting. 44 And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision. 45 Lo! We purified them with a pure thought, remembrance of the Home (of the Hereafter). 46 and, in Our sight they were indeed among the select, the truly good! 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding. 48 This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end, 49 the Gardens of Eden whose gates shall be open to them, 50 Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; 51 ۞ With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side. 52 This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning. 53 Indeed this is Our sustenance, which will never end. 54 All this; but for the insolent awaits an ill resort, 55 Hell; they shall enter it, so evil is the resting-place. 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 And similar other punishments in pairs. 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will say to them, "You are not welcome! It was you who brought this on us, an evil place to stay," 60 They say, “Our Lord! Whoever has brought this calamity upon us – double the punishment of the fire for him!” 61 And they will say: "What is the matter with us that we see not men whom we used to count among the bad ones?" 62 "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 That most surely is the truth: the contending one with another of the inmates of the fire. 64
