And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 We said, "Stamp your foot! Here is cool water for you to wash in and drink," 42 And We bestowed on him his household and along with them the like thereof, out of mercy from us, and a remembrance unto men of understanding. 43 We told him, "Take a handful of straw. Strike your wife with it to fulfill your oath." We found him to be patient. What an excellent servant he was. He was certainly most repenting. 44 Remember also Our servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- men of might they and of vision. 45 Assuredly We purified them with a quality most pure, the remembrance of the Abode, 46 In Our eyes they were of the chosen, virtuous people. 47 And call to mind Ishmael and Elisha, and every one who [like them] has pledged himself [unto Us]: for, each of them was of the truly good! 48 This is a Message (of admonition): and verily, for the righteous, is a beautiful Place of (Final) Return,- 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 in which they will recline, and call for abundant fruit and drink therein. 51 ۞ and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates. 52 This is what you are promised for the Day of Reckoning: 53 This is Our provision for you, never to end. 54 This (shall be so); and most surely there is an evil resort for the inordinate ones; 55 Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell! 56 (They will be told), "This is your recompense. 57 and other such torments. 58 [Its inhabitants will say], "This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire." 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 adding, "Our Lord, give double punishment to those who brought this upon us." 61 They say, 'How is it with us, that we do not see men here that we counted among the wicked? 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or are they here, and our eyes have missed them?" 63 That most surely is the truth: the contending one with another of the inmates of the fire. 64
