AND CALL to mind Our servant Job, [how it was] when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Behold, Satan has afflicted me with [utter] weariness and suffering!" 41 'Stamp thy foot! This is a laving-place cool, and a drink.' 42 And We gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding. 43 and, 'Take in thy hand a bundle of rushes, and strike therewith, and do not fail in thy oath.' Surely We found him a steadfast man. How excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 44 Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. 45 We indeed gave them distinction with a genuine affair – the remembrance of the (everlasting) abode. 46 They are the chosen ones, the excellent in Our sight. 47 And remember Ismail and Yasa’a (Elisha) and Zul-Kifl; and they are all excellent. 48 LET [all] this be a reminder [to those who believe in God] - for, verily, the most beauteous of all goals awaits the God-conscious: 49 The gardens of perpetuity, the doors are opened for them. 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ And with them are the pure spouses, who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, of single age. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 Indeed this is Our sustenance, which will never end. 54 This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end, 55 they will burn, in Hell, an evil resting place -- 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 and, coupled with it, further [suffering] of a similar nature. 58 Here is a troop rushing headlong with you! No welcome for them! truly, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 But they will say: 'No, it is you that has no welcome. It was you who brought it upon us, an evil place' 60 They say, “Our Lord! Whoever has brought this calamity upon us – double the punishment of the fire for him!” 61 And they will add: "How is it that we do not see [here any of the] men whom we were wont to count among the wicked, 62 Took we them so unjustly for a butt of mockery, or are they deluding our eyes? 63 Such, behold, will in truth be the [confusion and] mutual wrangling of the people of the fire! 64
