SAY [O Muhammad]: "I am only a warner; and there is no deity whatever save God, the One, who holds absolute sway over all that exists, 65 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them, the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving.” 66 Say: “This is a tiding of tremendous import 67 yet you ignore it. 68 (Tell them): “I had no knowledge of the High Council when they were disputing. 69 Naught is revealed to me save that I am a plain warner. 70 (Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay". 71 So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him." 72 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 73 except iblis (satan, the father of the jinn), he became too proud, for he was one of the unbelievers. 74 He said: O Iblis! what prevented you that you should do obeisance to him whom I created with My two hands? Are you proud or are you of the exalted ones? 75 Satan replied, "I am better than him. You created me from fire, but You created him from clay." 76 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state] - for, behold, thou art henceforth accursed, 77 My condemnation will be with you until the Day of Judgment!" 78 He said: "O Lord, give me respite till the day the dead rise from their graves." 79 He said: “You are of those who have been granted respite 80 Till the appointed day." 81 (Iblis) said: “By Your glory, I shall mislead them all 82 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 83 (Allah) said: "Then it is just and fitting- and I say what is just and fitting- 84 “That I will fill hell with you and with those among them who follow you, all together.” 85 Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender. 86 “It is not but an advice for the entire world.” 87 You will know the truth of the matter after a while.” 88
