Anyone whose heart God has opened up to Islam possesses a light from his Lord. But woe betide those whose hearts have been hardened against the rememberance of God! Such people are in obvious error. 22 God has sent down the best Message: a Scripture that is consimilar and oft-repeated: that causes the skins of those in awe of their Lord to creep. Then their skins and their hearts soften at the mention of God: such is God's guidance. He bestows it upon whoever He will; but no one can guide those whom God leaves to stray. 23 Can he who will have to shield himself against the torment of the Day of Resurrection (be the same as one at peace)? The evil-doers will be told: "So taste what you earned." 24 Those who went before them also belied, then Our punishment overtook them from where they were unaware; 25 So Allah made them taste degradation in the life of this world, and certainly the chastisement of the Hereafter will be much more grievous. Would that they knew! 26 We have given examples of every kind for men in this Qur'an so that they may contemplate: 27 (It is) a Qur'an in Arabic, without any crookedness (therein): in order that they may guard against Evil. 28 Allah propoundeth a similitude: man having several partners, quarelling, and a man wholly belonging to one man. Are the two equal in likeness? All praise unto Allah. But most of them know not. 29 Verily thou art mortal, and verily they are mortals. 30 Then verily on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord ye shall contend. 31
