Then a man endowed with faith, from Pharaoh's folk, who had kept his faith hidden, said: “Do you kill a person simply because he says: 'My Lord is Allah' even though he brought to you clear Signs from your Lord? If he is a liar, his lying will recoil upon him; but if he is truthful, you will be smitten with some of the awesome consequences of which he warns you. Allah does not guide to the Right Way any who exceeds the limits and is an utter liar. 28 O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct." 29 But the man of belief said: "O my people, what I fear for you is the like of what befell the communities (of old). 30 Like the people of Noah, 'Ad and Thamud, and those that came after them. God does not want to be unjust to His creatures. 31 “O my people! I fear for you a day on which will be a great outcry!” 32 the day you turn about, retreating, having none to defend you from God; and whomsoever God leads astray, no guide has he. 33 Joseph had indeed come to you before with clear proofs, but you did not cease to doubt what he had brought until he died, when you said: 'God will not send a prophet after him.' That is how God leads the waster, the sceptic astray. 34 Those who dispute God's revelations, with no authority having come to them, (are) greatly odious in the sight of God, and the sight of those who believe. That is how God seals every proud and perverse heart." 35 Pharaoh said: 'Haman, build me a tower that I can reach the ways, 36 “The routes of the heavens, in order to glance at the God of Moosa – and indeed I think he is a liar”; this is how the evil deeds of Firaun were made seeming good to him, and he was stopped from the path; and the evil scheme of Firaun was destined to be ruined. 37
