Did you not see those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah? Where are they being diverted? 69 Those who deny the Scripture and that wherewith We send Our messengers. But they will come to know, 70 when they shall have to carry the shackles and chains [of their own making] around their necks, 71 In boiling water; they will then be ignited* in the fire. (Like fuel – see verse 2:24) 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 Beside Allah? They say: They have failed us; but we used not to pray to anything before. Thus doth Allah send astray the disbelievers (in His guidance). 74 “This is the recompense of your being happy upon falsehood in the earth, and the recompense of your conceit.” 75 Enter the gates of Gehenna and live there for ever. Evil is the lodging of the proud. 76 So be thou patient; surely God's promise is true. Whether We show thee a part of that We promise them, or We call thee unto Us, to Us they shall be returned. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
