Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. 4 They say: “Our hearts are securely wrapped up against what you call us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between you and us there is a veil. So act; we too are acting.” 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
