Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim! 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 Indeed for those who believed and did good deeds, is a limitless reward. 8
