Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay Zakah, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
