Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Those who do not give the obligatory charity, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
