Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim! 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 They say: “Our hearts are securely wrapped up against what you call us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between you and us there is a veil. So act; we too are acting.” 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
