Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim! 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
