Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book whereof the verses are detailed; an Arabic Qur'an, for a people who know. 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
