Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 A Revelation from (Allah), Most Gracious, Most Merciful;- 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
