Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
