Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

HA MIM. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
