Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
