Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
