Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 Who do not give a due share of their wealth for the welfare of others, and do not believe in the Hereafter. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
