Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
