The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Allah – none is worthy of worship, except Him, He is Alive (eternally, on His own) and the Upholder (keeps others established). 2 He has revealed this Book to you, setting forth the truth and confirming the earlier Books, and earlier He revealed the Torah and Gospel 3 for the guidance of mankind; and He has also revealed the Criterion (to distinguish truth from falsehood). A severe chastisement lies in store for those who deny the signs of Allah. Allah is All-Mighty; He is the Lord of Retribution. 4 Verily, nothing on earth or in the heavens is hidden from God. 5 He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He likes; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise 6 It is He who has sent down the Book to you. Some of its verses are clear and precise in meaning, they are the basis of the Book, while others are allegorical. Those with deviation in their hearts pursue the allegorical, so as to create dissension by seeking to explain it: but no one knows its meaning except God. Those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say, "We believe in it: it is all from our Lord." But only the wise take heed. 7 Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver. 8 Our Lord! You surely will gather mankind together one Day, a Day about (the coming of which) there is no doubt. Surely Allah never goes against His promise.' 9
