The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
A. L. M. 1 God exists. He is the only Lord, the Everlasting and the Guardian of life. 2 He has sent down the Book to you with truth, which fulfils [the predictions] in the Scriptures that preceded it: He sent down the Torah and the Gospel 3 Aforetime, for a guidance unto the people, and sent down the criterion. Verily those who disbelieve in the signs of Allah unto them shall be torment severe. And Allah is Mighty, Lord of Retribution. 4 Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allah. 5 He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He likes; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise 6 It is He Who has revealed the Book to you. Some of its verses are absolutely clear and lucid, and these are the core of the Book. Others are ambiguous. Those in whose hearts there is perversity, always go about the part which is ambiguous, seeking mischief and seeking to arrive at its meaning arbitrarily, although none knows their true meaning except Allah. On the contrary, those firmly rooted in knowledge say: 'We believe in it; it is all from our Lord alone.' No one derives true admonition from anything except the men of understanding. 7 "Let us not go astray, O Lord, having guided us already. Bestow on us Your blessings for You are the benevolent. 8 You will gather mankind together, O Lord, on a day that is certain to come, and God does not fail in His promise. 9
