Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 If He will He calmeth the wind so that they keep still upon its surface - Lo! herein verily are signs for every steadfast grateful (heart). - 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
