Now whatever calamity may befall you [on Judgment Day] will be an outcome of what your own hands have wrought, although He pardons much; 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 If He willeth He causeth the wind to cease so that they keep still on the back thereof; verily therein are signs for every patient, grateful person. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive, 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves. 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
