Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
