Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 or He could have destroyed them as punishment for the human being's deeds. However, God pardons many sins. 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting – for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 and when harmed they become victorious. 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
