Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting – for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
