Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If He wills, He causes the wind to cease, then they would become motionless on the back (of the sea). Verily, in this are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who have pledged their obedience to the Lord, who are steadfast in prayer, who conduct their affairs with consultation among themselves, who spend for the cause of God out of what We have given them, 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgiving, these most surely are actions due to courage. 43
