Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
