Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them). 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
