Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
