Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
