Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HaMeem. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
