Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

Ha Mim 1 By the Clear Book; 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
