Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
