Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 in order that you might gain mastery over them, and that, whenever you have mastered them, you might remember your Sustainer's blessings and say: "Limitless in His glory is He who has made [all] this subservient to our use - since [but for Him,] we would not have been able to attain to it. 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
