Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
