Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
