Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
