Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 That ye mount firmly on the backs thereof, and then may remember the favour of your Lord when ye mount thereon, and may say: hallowed be He Who hath subjected this unto us, and we for it were not fit. 13 Surely we have to go back to our Lord." 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
