Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
