Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples, 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
