Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
