Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 in order that you might gain mastery over them, and that, whenever you have mastered them, you might remember your Sustainer's blessings and say: "Limitless in His glory is He who has made [all] this subservient to our use - since [but for Him,] we would not have been able to attain to it. 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
