Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples, 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
