And when Abraham said to his father and his people, 'Surely I am quit of that you serve, 26 except the One Who created me; and, behold, it is He Who will direct me to the Right Way.” 27 And Abraham left behind this word to endure among his posterity so that they may return to it. 28 Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear. 29 but when the truth came to them, they said, "This is sorcery, and we reject it." 30 They say, 'Why was this Koran not sent down upon some man of moment in the two cities?' 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend, 33 and doors to their houses, and couches whereon to recline, 34 or that they be made of gold. Surely all this is only the enjoyment of the life of the world. But (true prosperity) in the Hereafter with Your Lord is only for the God-fearing. 35
