And when Abraham said to his father and his people, 'Surely I am quit of that you serve, 26 except Him who originated me, for He will guide me' 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 In fact, We allowed them and their fathers to enjoy themselves until the truth and a strong Messenger came to them. 29 And when the truth came to them, they said, 'This is a sorcery, and in it we are unbelievers.' 30 Then they said, "Why this Quran had not been revealed to a man from either of the two great towns". 31 Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have distributed their sustenance in this world and raised the positions of some of them above the others so that they would mock each other. The mercy of your Lord is better than what they can amass. 32 Had it not been that all people would become one community (of unbelievers), We might have given those who disbelieve in Ar-Rahman roofs of silver for their dwellings and (silver) stairs for mounting, 33 and (silver) doors to their houses, and couches (of silver) upon which they would recline; 34 And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous. 35
